This centavo was minted for El Salvador in 1981. The SCWC attributes this amateurish effort to the Guatemala City Mint, which may be a private operation. On the obverse of the coin is the image of Francisco Morazán, who defeated Guatemalan attempts to conquer Central America, thereby securing Salvadoran independence.
Recorded mintage: 50,000,000.
Specification: brass, 2.5 g, 15 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 135.2a.
