This five centavos was minted for El Salvador 1939-1974 at Philadelphia, San Francisco and Canada. On the obverse of the coin is the image of Francisco Morazán, who defeated Guatemalan attempts to conquer Central America, thereby establishing Salvadoran independence.

Recorded mintage: 6,000,000.

Specification: 5 g, copper-nickel, 23 mm diameter.
