This type was struck at Brussels and Philadelphia 1904-14. It is fairly common in circulated condition. The Philadelphia issues may be distinguished by a broader shoulder and heavier jowls on Colombus's face. This specimen was lot 22461 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "EL SALVADOR. Peso, 1909-CAM. NGC MS-63. Good strike with attractive tone and strong underlying luster. From the Alex Siegel Collection."

Recorded mintage: 690,000 struck at San Francisco.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, .723 troy oz ASW.
