This specimen was lot 20503 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $11,750. The catalog description[1] noted, "Abdul Hamid II 20 Qirsh 1293AH Year 5 (1880), AU Details NGC, excessive surface hairlines, rare type and date, harshly cleaned with some remaining surface patination." This type was struck 1876, 1879 and 1880 and is very rare. The later type of 1884-98 (KM 296) is much more available.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.

Specification: 27.57 g, 0.833 fine silver.
