This specimen is a gold ten qirsh piece from the reign of the Sultan Abdul Hamid II. The obverse bears the toughra, or signature, of the sultan, with the denomination written below, in this case 10). A flower design is to the right of the toughra. The reverse carries the year of mintage (year 23 of reign) followed by the script 'minted in Misr' (Egypt). The year of accession (1293) is written below. The date of the coin translates to 1897 AD. Uslu[1] lists this date as very rare.

This coin was lot 74222 and sold on June 4, 2007 by Heritage Auctions at the 2007 June Long Beach, CA World coin Final Session #44001 for $207. The catalog description reads: "Abdul Hamid II gold 10 Kurush 1293/23, MS62 NGC, scarcer date."
