This specimen was lot 34538 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ottoman Empire. Abdul Aziz gold 5 Qirsh AH 1277 Year 14 (1874/5) MS66 NGC, Misr mint (in Egypt). A absolute Gem of the type, with every detail expertly rendered against satiny, blemish-free fields. From the Feeling Good Collection." The coin shown is a gold five qirsh from the reign of Sultan Abdul Aziz. It was struck years 3-15 at the Cairo Mint. The obverse bears the toughra, or signature, of the sultan, with the denomination written below (abbreviated as the letter 'sh' for qirsh) with the number 5 above. A crude floral design sits right of the toughra. Silver five qirsh also exist for year 14.
