The coin shown is a 5 para, composition copper, from the reign of Sultan Mahmud II. It was struck at the Cairo Mint. The obverse bears the toughra, or signature, of the sultan. The reverse carries the accession date and the text minted in Misr (Misr is Arabic for Egypt). The date is written as AH 1223 year 28, which translates to about 1834 AD.
The specimen shown was for sale as of May 17, 2011 at the Coin House SESAM Basel, for $119. The sale description reads "Ägypten OTTOMAN EGYPT 5 Para AH1223-28(1834) MAHMUD II copper VF-XF # 62080 1834 ss-vz"
