The coin shown is a 1 para, composition billon, from the reign of Abdul Hamid I. It is a crudely hammered coin, produced at the Cairo Mint. The obverse features the toughra, or signature, of the sultan, while the reverse shows the ascension date and the text minted in Misr (Misr is Arabic for Egypt). The ascension date is written as AH 1187, and the year of striking is written as 200, inferred to mean AH 1200. This translates to about 1786 AD.
