This specimen was lot 74368 in Stack's Bowers May 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2026), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "EGYPT. 10 Milliemes, AH 1373/1954. Cairo Mint. NGC MS-63. A RARE variant, with handsome details and limited handling." In 1953 the monarchy was ousted by a junta of army officers and the first republic established. After the initial euphoria, the junta, its support waning, decided to participate in the Arab attack on Israel of 1956. This resulted in ignominious defeat and only American intervention saved the regime. This type was struck 1954-55 only.
