This specimen was lot 73468 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "ECUADOR. 50 Sucres, 1991. Sherritt (Fort Saskatchewan) Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-63 Gold Shield. Variety with wide date and narrow edge. Exceptionally dazzling and vibrant, this near-Gem exhibits some scattered marks in the fields, but is exceeded in the PCGS census by just one example. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." This type was struck 1988, 1991 with narrow and wide date varieties. It was the only issue of this denomination for circulation.
