This specimen was lot 23723 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold Condor 1928 Birmingham, UNC Details NGC surface hairlines, fully lustrous, scarce one-year type in mint state." A complete set of denominations were minted for Ecuador in 1928, starting at one centavo with this coin being the highest and only gold issue. Most remained in the central bank with only a few thousand passing into circulation.

Recorded mintage: 20,000.

Specification: 8.36 g, 0.900 fine gold.
