This issue from the Communist regime of East Germany commemorates the 125th anniversary of the death of painter Karl Friedrich Schinkel. This standard was used for several commemoratives issues 1966-67; those issued 1968-75 were 0.625 fine and those of 1975-90 were only 0.500 fine. A number of copper-nickel types were also issued for circulation.

Specification: 17 g, 0.800 fine silver, .437 troy oz ASW, edge lettered 10 MARK DER DEUTSCHEN NOTEN BANK. The edge lettering was left off a few by mistake; these appear in the SCWC as KM 15.2.

Mintage: 50,000.
