This specimen was lot 22263 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "EAST AFRICA. 50 Cents, 1911. NGC MS-66. First year for the type with a mintage of 150k and an issue that saw wide circulation. The single finest graded coin at NGC by a four point margin. A stunning example with milky white luster and a bold sharp strike. Everything a superb gem is supposed to look like with little room for improvement. Ex: Ted Reams Collection." This issue of 1911-19 was struck to the weight and diameter of a British shilling. Uganda was dropped from the title in 1920 and in 1921 the coinage was reformed so that 100 cents = one shilling instead of one florin as before. This date is scarce but not rare.

Recorded mintage: 150,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 5.3 g, 0.800 fine silver, 25.9 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-9.
