Deventer-Kampen-Zwolle 1568 daalder Dav-8537
This specimen was lot 1457 in Jean Elsen sale 120 (Brussels, March 2014) where it sold for €400 (about US$658 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, DE DRIE RIJKSSTEDEN, (Deventer, Kampen en Zwolle), AR arendrijksdaalder, 1568, Met titel van Maximiliaan II. Droit: De drie stedenwapens onder toernooihelmen, daaronder jaartal. Revers: Gekroonde rijksarend. Zeer Frai (Netherlands, the three Imperial cities (Deventer, Kampen and Zwolle), silver reichs thaler of 1568, in the name of Maximilian II. Obverse: the three city arms under a helmet, date below; reverse: crowned arms. Very fine.)"
The towns of Deventer, Kampen and Zwolle are in central Overijssel and banded together in the mid-sixteenth century to issue coinage. This type is listed for 1567-70, 1575, 1577-78.
