Denmark 1604 mark
This specimen was lot 10080 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €336 (about US$350). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Mark, 1604. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. NGC EF-40. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex. Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922)." This type was struck 1602 and 1604 and was worth one quarter speciedaler. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
