This specimen was lot 10185 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €1,140 (about US$1,188). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 8 Skilling, ND. (1606-1610). Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. NGC EF-40. Beautiful toned example of this rare 8 Skilling without date. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This undated type was struck around the same time as the dated version (KM 32.2). It was worth one twelfth speciedaler. Numerous varieties exist (KM 47.1 thru KM 47.3). The next søsling of 1624 was pure copper. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648), king of Denmark and duke of Schleswig-Holstein, had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.92 g, 0.888 fine silver, 25 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-32.1; Hede-93A; Sieg-54.2; Schou-32; Bruun-5853.
