Danzig (15)90-PK ducat Fr-10
This specimen was lot 42515 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $7,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND. Danzig. Ducat, "90" (1590). Danzig Mint. Sigismund III. NGC AU Details--Reverse Cleaned. Fairly SCARCE and highly enticing, this pleasing example resides at the cusp of Mint State status, displaying very little in the way of actual handling, all while alluring brilliance dominates the fields and just a hint of the light cleaning is observed. A tremendous opportunity for a difficult and impressive emission." This type was struck with several subtypes 1585-1632. Its long run of production make it among the more available Polish ducats. Altho the SCWC does not so state, all the early issues have two digit dates.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold.
