This specimen was sold in Heritage sale 3519 (Long Beach, CA, September 2012) for $___. The catalog description noted, "Mexico Tesoreria General del Estado 5 Centavos 10.12.1913. This emission was issued under the auspices of Pancho Villa while he was provisional governor of Chihuahua in order to pay his Villistas. Fine with left edge wear." Frampton, et al., note that this type was issued 1913 only and is rare. The other denominations, ten centavos thru fifty pesos, are common and issued in an astonishing profusion of varieties. Altho nominally a state issue of Chihuahua, these were printed on Pancho Villa's orders and enthusiastically counterfeited.

Recorded issue: unknown.

Catalog reference: Pick S548, Frampton M900.
