Series of 1949
The first specimen was lot 5683 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $690. The catalog description noted, "PHILIPPINES. 50 Pesos, ND (1949). P-122a. This note is not often found in a grade such as this pristine well embossed example. The note shows rich color and sensational appeal. It shows the thin lettering of the reverse overprint. UNCIRCULATED."
The second specimen was lot 5684 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $477.25. The catalog description noted, "PHILIPPINES. 100 Pesos, ND (1949). P-123a. A series that gets quite challenging as the denominations increase and this lovely circulated 100 Pesos note shows in a respectable grade. Only a couple pinholes and some ink on the reverse to mention. FINE."
The third specimen was lot 5685 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $977.50. The catalog description noted, "PHILIPPINES. 500 Pesos, ND (1949). P-124b. We are pleased to offer another 500 Pesos note from the Philippines which is the highest denomination again for the series. This note has great appeal for the technical grade and shows deep purple inks on the reverse. Thick lettering of the overprint is noted along with only a few flecks of rust here-and-there. A great opportunity for a collector to fill the hole in their collection that this note has likely caused. FINE-VERY FINE."
