Currency of the British Caribbean Territories
The first specimen was lot 8032 in Ponterio sale 150 (Los Angeles, August 2009), where it sold for $661.25. The catalog description noted, "BRITISH CARIBBEAN TERRITORIES. 2 Dollars, 5.1.1953. P-8a. A very scarce note that is one of the keys to the 1953 Issue notes and shows the rare watermark of a sailing ship instead of the frequently seen Queen Elizabeth variety. This note is an attractive original piece with even circulation and bright color throughout. Finding higher-grade pieces of this date can be tough and many collectors will settle for attractive mid-grade examples such as this. VERY FINE."
The second specimen was lot 127 in Ponterio sale 145 (Chicago, April 2009), where it sold for $1282.25. The catalog description noted, "BRITISH CARIBBEAN TERRITORIES. 10 Dollars, ND (1955-59). P-10s. Specimen. Queen Elizabeth II watermark.UNCIRCULATED."
