Prior to the Revolution, banks were not permitted to issue notes of less than five pesos face value. This restriction was relaxed after the Huerta regime looted the banks of their bullion. Even so, this type is fairly scarce for this denomination compared to other banks.

Frampton, et al., note various issues of this note dated 1897-1912 along with overprints from Morelia (Fr M397d, shown here) and Oaxaca (M396e). The first specimen is dated 1909, the second 1912. This type is somewhat common in circulated condition altho the Oaxaca overprint is scarce.

This specimen was sold in Heritage sale 3514 (Long Beach, CA, September 2011) for $172.50. The catalog description noted, "Mexico El Banco Del Estado De Mexico 10 Pesos 7.1.1911 This number is not priced above XF in either Krause or Frampton. The net grade is for glue which is minor. PMG About Uncirculated 50 Net." Frampton, et al., note various issues of this note dated 1898-1912 along with an overprint from Morelia (Fr M397d). This type is somewhat common in circulated condition.
