Cuba 2014 5 centavos rev DSLR.jpg

This type was struck for Cuba 1963-72 and again starting in 2001. Except for the change in composition, this type is essentially identical to the copper-nickel five centavos of the previous regime. Aluminum coins are generally not popular with collectors and this issue is no exception, having a derisory catalog value. A convertible five centavos based on the "CUC" (KM 575.2) also exists and is worth about twenty-five times this coin.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: aluminum, 21 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: KM 34.
