This specimen was lot 70371 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $75. The catalog description[1] noted, "CONGO. 20 Francs, 2003. PCGS PROOF-69 Deep Cameo. Struck to commemorate Pope John Paul II, this splendid minor presents a deep golden-orange tone along with an intense cameo nature, owing mostly to its exceptionally mirrored fields." This NCLT is one of six different gold 20 francs issued in 2003.
