This type was issued 1889, 1898-99 under the 'Republica de Colombia'. The denomination is written as 'CINCUENTA CENTAVOS'. This specimen was part of lot 23696 in Heritage auction 3014 (Chicago, April 2011), where it sold for $460. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic 50 Centavos 1899 Bogotá, AU50 NGC. This rarest Republica date was not offered in the extensive Whittier Catalogue. Uncleaned, well struck, attractive and highly desirable. From The Dana Roberts Collection."
