Colombia 1861-B 10 pesos
The first specimen was lot 1622 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $862.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "1861 10 pesos. Bogotá mint. AU-55 (NGC). Types as above. Medium gold, rim scrape at 9:00 on reverse. A better date of this type. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942." The second specimen was lot 13019 in Heritage sale 397 (New York, January 2006), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description[2] noted, "Confederacion Granadina. Gold 10 Pesos 1861 Bogota, AU55 PCGS, beautiful harvest orange and lilac toning over lustrous surfaces - an appealing example of this scarce type and date." This type was struck 1858-62 and is slightly more common than the ten pesos of the previous regime.
