This specimen was lot 1953 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €550 (about US$766 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KÖLN, STADT, Goldgulden o. J. (vor 1480). GOLD. Kl. Schrötlingsriß, sehr schön. (Germany, city of Cologne, undated goldgulden. Small planchet crack, very fine.)"
This is the first gold coin listed for the city (not the archbishop) of Cologne, which struck gold coins until the late eighteenth century. The date given here is a guess; Friedberg merely states the fifteenth century.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.25 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen 3.24 g.
Catalog reference: Fr-751; Noss 18 a.
