This specimen was lot 17800 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $1,495. The catalog description[1] noted, "Long Beach, CA - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 600 The City NB Ch. # (P)8870. By far the highest grade example reported of the ten pieces listed in the census from this very scarce Long Beach bank. Bright Very Fine+. Ex-Currency Auctions of America's November, 1992 sale, lot 2044."
