The catalog description[1] noted, "Los Angeles, CA - $5 1882 Date Back Fr. 537 The Citizens NB Ch. # (P)5927. The first of a nice run of Second Charter Date Backs and Value Backs from here. Pleasing Fine+, with good margins and signatures for the issue."

This specimen was lot 20367 in Stack's Bowers Baltimore Auction (Baltimore, March 2018), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Los Angeles, California. $50 1882 Date Back. Fr. 563. The Citizens NB. Charter #5927. PMG Very Fine 25. All California high-denomination National Bank Notes are scarce and one from the 1882 series, regardless of type, is rare. An appealing mid-grade offering here that shows with large vanity banking signatures and mostly even circulation throughout. PMG mentions just "Pinholes," in the comments section of the holder. Of the few shown in population data, this could easily be among the finest available as we see none beyond the Very Fine grade range."

Four $50 notes are reported from here bearing this title, with this the nicest of the group. Pleasing Fine-Very Fine, with excellent colors and bold signatures. Ex-Currency Auctions of America's Memphis 1994 sale, lot 2146."

This specimen was lot 668 in Goldberg sale 106 (Los Angeles, September 2018), where it sold for $6,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "1882, $100 National Bank Note, Citizens NB of Los Angeles, CA., Charter 5927. Fr-571. KL-1409. This is a very scarce type and denomination for the state of California with only about ten $100 DB's known for the whole state. The note has excellent margins and color with bold printed signatures. The last time one of these came up for auction, it brought $9200 in 2011. A rare opportunity to pick up a high denomination national on Los Angeles. PCGS mentions a very minor ink mark on the front and some tiny pinholes. PCGS graded Very Fine 25."

The catalog description[2] noted, "Los Angeles, California. $10 1929 Ty. 1. Fr. 1801-1. The Citizens NT & SB. Charter #5927. PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. A lovely Gem from a prominent Los Angeles charter. This example stands among the finest examples recorded for this charter by the National Bank Note Census." This note was lot 21583 in Stack's Bowers Spring 2023 Auction - Session 13 - Internet Only - U.S. Currency, where it sold for $720.
