This type was struck for circulation in Chile 1990-2023. Bernardo O'Higgins, hero of the war for independence, is featured on the obverse. Most were struck at Santiago but some were struck in Ottawa (2007) and Utrecht (2014-15). As of February 2025, US$1 = 942 pesos, rendering this coin worthless.

Recorded mintage: 290,000,000.

Specification: 3.5 g, aluminum nickel bronze, 21 mm diameter, reeded edge.
