This type was struck for circulation in Chile 1992-2015. Bernardo O'Higgins, hero of the war for independence, is featured on the obverse. Most were struck at Santiago but some were struck in South Africa (2001-SA), Madrid (2012-13) and Utrecht (2014-15). As of February 2025, US$1 = 942 pesos, rendering this coin worthless.

Recorded mintage: 106,000,000.

Specification: 2.2 g, aluminum nickel bronze, 15.5 mm diameter, segmented reeded edge.
