CNG Lissner sale, lot 1352

This specimen was lot 1352 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $2,722.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE, Republic. 1818-present. AV Escudo. Santiago mint. Dated 1846 So IJ. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 63. Choice deep yellow patina and very lustrous uncirculated. Highest graded for the date and type. Ex Norweb Collection (Spink America, 3 March 1997), lot 185." This type was struck in Santiago, Chile, 1846-51 and is the last issue of this denomination. A slightly different design was used 1839-45.
