This specimen was lot 71278 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "CEYLON. 2 Cents, 1971. London or Llantrisant Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-65 Gold Shield. A glistening and shimmering Gem, offering great lustrous brilliance and exceeded in the PCGS census by just three examples. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." This specimen was issued by Ceylon 1963-71 and is common in all grades. In 1972, Ceylon dropped its membership in the British Commonwealth and changed its name to Sri Lanka, which name is still in use.

Recorded mintage: 45,000,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 0.78 g, aluminum, 18.3 mm diameter.
