This specimen was lot 41026 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $7,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. Catalonia. Gold Medallic 20 Pesetas Pattern, 1900. Barcelona Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-66. A lovely premium Gem specimen, offering alluring details, a bold strike, and glittering luster. A type that is seldom encountered, as this is our first offering of the type. A most pleasing specimen that will doubtlessly command outsized attention when offered at auction." This coin is part of a privately minted six piece set (five and ten centimos in bronze, one and 5 pesetas in silver and twenty and 100 pesetas in gold). Wikipedia comments,

"The conservative elements of Catalan nationalism founded the League of Catalonia in 1887 who, in 1891, were united with the group La Renaixença, creating the Unió Catalanista (Catalanist Union). The Unió redacted, in 1892, the Basis of Catalan regional autonomy, also known as Basis of Manresa, a program that demanded a specific autonomy for Catalonia."
