This specimen was lot 31915 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $2,136. The catalog description[1] noted, "Caracas. Provincial 1/8 Real 1812-(c) VF35 Brown PCGS, Caracas mint. A very rare type with a mintage of only 7000 pieces. A nice grade with clear details and a yellowish-brown patina." This type, along with a copper quarter real (KM C22), was issued by the republicans while they held Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, 1810-12. The "19" refers to the 19th of April, the date independence was declared. The royalists recaptured the city in 1812 and held it until their defeat in 1821.
