The first specimen was lot 22265 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. 100 Dollars, 2003. PCGS PROOF-69 DEEP CAMEO Secure Holder. Struck to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Discovery of Marquis Wheat. Includes certificate of authenticity serial #00770 (out of 9,993)." The second specimen was lot 74584 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $690. The catalog description[2] noted, "CANADA. 100 Dollars, 2003. Ottawa Mint. Elizabeth II. GEM PROOF. Includes original box of issue." The profits extracted from the manufacture and sale of NCLT's caused the Royal Canadian Mint to scramble for ever more arcane topics, including this one honoring the discovery of Marquis wheat. We don't know why the mint chose to use 14 K gold for this series.

Recorded mintage: 9,993.

Specification: 13.34 g, 0.583 fine gold, .250 troy oz AGW, 27 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Fr-66; KM-486.
