The first specimen was part of lot 50369 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. Prooflike Set, Cent - Dollar, 1953. NGC PL-64. 6 pieces in set. The 50 Cent is a large date variety. With shoulder fold. Includes original cardboard holder. Grade for the 1 Cent is NGC PL-64 RB; 5 Cent, 50 Cent, and 1 Dollar are NGC PL-65; 10 Cent is NGC PL-64 CAMEO; and the 25 Cent is NGC PL-65 CAMEO." The second specimen was lot 33109 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[2] noted, "CANADA. 10 Cents, 1953. Ottawa Mint. Elizabeth II. NGC MS-65. Variety with no shoulder strap." The year 1953 marked the inauguration of coinage for the durable Elizabeth II and this bust was used on the ten cents 1953-64. This date is also noted for "shoulder fold" and "no shoulder fold" varieties, varieties formerly known as "shoulder strap" and "no shoulder strap."

Recorded mintage: 17,706,395 struck for circulation plus 1,200 proof-like sets.

Specification: 2.33 g, 0.800 fine silver, .060 troy oz ASW.
