Steve Album sale 51, lot 1343

This specimen was lot 1343 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "CAMBODIA: Norodom Sihamoni, 2004-, AR 9000 riels, 2006, Sun at center of Zodiac symbols, in oversized PCGS holder, PCGS graded Proof 68 DCAM, R4 (Daniel), ex Howard A. Daniel III Collection." Norodom Sihamoni (b. 1953) ascended the throne upon the abdication of his father, Norodom Sihanouk, in October 2004. Actual power was held by strongman Hun Sen, prime minister 1985-93 and 1998-2023. As of May 2025, US$1 = 4,006 riels.

Recorded mintage: 59,999 proofs struck at Singapore.

Specification: 62.2 g, 0.999 fine silver, 50 mm diameter.
