This specimen was lot 4193 in Goldberg sale 65 (Los Angeles, September 2011), where it sold for $661.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Burkina Faso. Essai 25,000 Francs, 2007. 'Elephant' Rare only 85 mint state pieces struck. NGC graded MS-67." Not only does the SCWC not list this coin, there is no listing for this country, the former French colony of Upper Volta. It seems likely that this piece, probably minted in Europe, was rejected by its proposed customer and thence made its way onto the numismatic market.
