This specimen was lot 1423 in Jean Elsen sale 155 (Brussels, June 2023), where it sold for €80 (about US$105 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE, BRETAGNE, Duché, Jean V (1399-1442), AR blanc à la targe, 1436-1442, Nantes. D/ Targe à neuf mouchetures d'hermine. R/ Petite croix pattée. Très Beau. (France, duchy of Brittany, John V, 1399-1442, silver blanc of the shield, c. 1436-42, Nantes mint. Obverse: shield with nine ermines; reverse: small cross pattée. Very Fine.)"

"John V, (1389-1442) bynamed John the Wise, was Duke of Brittany and Count of Montfort from 1399 to his death. His rule coincided with the height of the Hundred Years' War between England and France. John's reversals in that conflict, as well as in other internal struggles in France, served to strengthen his duchy and to maintain its independence."
