This specimen was lot 70257 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH HONDURAS. Cent, 1888. London Mint. Victoria. NGC MS-64 Red. Incredibly vibrant and flashy, the fully red near-Gem dazzles with great brilliance." This type was also struck in 1885, 1889 and 1894. The country, long claimed by Guatemala, is now known as Belize. The issues of British Honduras are marked by their dull design; the reverse on this coin was used during the reigns of queen Victoria, kings Edward VII, George V and George VI.
