This specimen was lot 22099 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $141. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH GUIANA. 4 Pence, 1938. PCGS MS-64. Bold strike with full cartwheel luster and light amber toning." This type was struck 1938-43; the type is common but 1938 is scarce. This fourpence was debased to 0.500 fine for 1944-45, whereupon the denomination was suspended. The area would achieve independence as Guyana in 1966.

Recorded mintage: 30,000.

Specification: 1.89 g, 0.925 fine silver.
