Brazil 1884 200 reis rev DSLR.jpg

This copper-nickel two hundred réis superseded the silver, dime-sized coin of the same denomination issued 1854-69. This type was minted 1871-84 and is not rare but very scarce in nice condition, suggesting heavy and prolonged use. A slightly modified type (KM 484) was issued 1886-89 and is slightly more available. The denomination was continued under the Republic until 1901.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.

Specification: copper-nickel.

Catalog reference: KM 478.
