This specimen was lot 72170 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 100 Reis, 1876/5. Pedro II. NGC Unc Details--Cleaned. Despite exhibiting some light cleaning, this pleasing overdate type presents charming, fairly even color throughout." This type was struck 1871-85 and most dates are fairly common in worn condition. This date along with the regular 1876 is scarce.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 9.8 g, copper-nickel, 27 mm diameter.
