Brazil 1869 1000 reis
The first specimen was lot 71385 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 1000 Reis, 1869. Rio de Janeiro Mint. Pedro II. PCGS MS-64. A nicely toned and nearly immaculate 1000 Reis piece of a one-year type. The full mint luster reflects the vibrant red and blue toning in the fields.
