Brazil 1863 2000 reis KM-Pn113
This specimen was lot 41088 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $14,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. Silver 2000 Reis Pattern, 1863. Pedro II. NGC MS-62. Variety with denomination as "2$000". This richly toned example displays attractive mottled gray patina with much underlying luster that pops out when tilted in the light. Boldly struck with well-formed intricate design features and relatively smooth surfaces. A pleasing example of this seldom encountered type that clearly sat for a prolonged period of time undisturbed. Ex: Paula Xavier Collection." While the emperor's bust already appeared on the gold, the arms obverse/value reverse design was used until 1869. This pattern, which was also struck in copper, varies from the later adopted design by having the denomination written "2$000".
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 25.5 g, 0.917 fine silver, 37 mm diameter.
