This specimen was lot 76619 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 80 Reis, 1829-SP. Sao Paulo Mint. Pedro I. PCGS EF-40." This type was struck 1825 and 1828-29 at the shortlived mint of São Paulo. It was only two-thirds of the weight of the standard issue struck at Rio (KM 366.1) and Bahia (KM 366.2).
Recorded mintage: 3,743,000.
