This specimen was lot 23795 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $4,112.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I gold 1600 Reis 1766-B, XF Details - Mount Removed, Cleaned NGC. A bit porous from being used in Jewelry. Beautiful bold date and bust. Quite scarce type. From The RLM Collection, Part II." This type was struck 1751-77 but all dates are scarce.
