Brazil 1734-B 6400 reis
This specimen was lot 3383 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €24,000 (about US$31,003 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Johann V. 1706-1750. 6.400 Reis 1734, B, Bahia. GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Attraktives Exemplar, kl. Randfehler, leichte Druckstelle im Feld der Vorderseite, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Brazil, John V, 1706-50, 6,400 réis of 1734, Bahia mint. Very rare, attractive, small rim bump, minor punch mark in the obverse field, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1731-50 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil tho the early dates (especially the ones from Minas Gerais) are rare.
