Künker sale 293, lot 314

This specimen was lot 314 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,591 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Friedrich Wilhelm, der Große Kurfürst, 1640-1688. Reichstaler 1648, CT, Berlin. R Üblicher Stempelfehler, leichte Druckstelle, sehr schön +. (Germany, electorate of Brandenburg, Frederick William, the Great Elector, 1640-88, thaler of 1648, Berlin mint. Scarce, obverse cud, very fine or better.)"

This type, struck 1645-50, is rare and expensive like most early Prussian thalers.
