This specimen was lot 2670 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $83.30. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOMBAY PRESIDENCY: AR ½ rupee, Bombay, 1825, East India Company issue, Persian inscription, couplet // Persian-julus, mintname, and date, privy mark #8, titles of Shah Alam II, VF to EF." Prior to the introduction of milled coinage in 1835, the East India Company struck imitations of local designs, including this one modeled on a Mughal half rupee. A similar type (KM 217.1) comes with a different privy mark.
